Jazz - (DNZM Performance Levels) Incorporating true jazz, contemporary, musical theatre, lyrical, styilized jazz and funk.

Hip Hop - A commercial style of hip hop danced to everything from old school classic's to the latest hits.

Tap - Classic tap patterns and rhythms with a modern twist.

Syllabus- NZAMD

 

Contemporary - A New Zealand contemporary technique based class that draws both from current practices and exercises from modern dance training.

Stretch and  Conditioning - this class uses elements of Yoga, Pilates, Muscle & Bone, boot-camp style training and barre work to strengthen and increase flexibility and tone for dancers from any genre.

Classical Ballet - Grade and Open classes for all ages.

Guidelines: 

 

IDTA Preparatory Ballet 4 years is the minimum( we reccommend at least 5 to 6 years)

 

IDTA Primary Ballet 5 years is the minium (we reccommend 6/7 years minimum)

 

IDTA Grade 1 Ballet 7 years is the minimum ( we reccommend 7/8 years start age) There is no minimum age after this so its just at which ever skill level they are suitable to but we reccommend the following age guideline.

 

IDTA Grade 2 Ballet 8/9 years start

 

IDTA Grade 3 Ballet 9/10 years start

 

IDTA Grade 4  Ballet 10 years minimum

 

IDTA Grade 5 Ballet 11 years minimum

 

Intermediate Ballet 13 years minimum

 

Classical Award 1 13 years minimum.

 

 

Descriptions:

 

Preparatory Ballet - A fun, inspiring and structured introduction to the world of Ballet. Classes cover basic ballet positions and movements that will help you to improve your posture, co-ordination and strength. Students can choose to prepare for the annual IDTA Ballet Exam.

 

Primary Ballet - Building from the Basics of Ballet in Preparatory Ballet students start to learn more intricate steps,jumps (allegro), develop arm movements (port de bras) and explore artistry and musicality. Students can choose to prepare for the Annual IDTA Ballet Exam. Examined by Registered IDTA Ballet teachers.

 

Grade 1 Ballet -  Building from Primary Ballet students now move to the Barre and continue to learn more intricate steps,jumps (allegro), develop arm movements (port de bras) and explore artistry and musicality. Students can choose to prepare for the Annual IDTA Ballet Exam. Examined by Registered IDTA Ballet teachers

 

Grade 2 & 3 Ballet - Building from the previous grade students will improve technique, develop ballet vocabulary and increase confidence. Building on the basics, classes introduce preparation for turns (pirouettes), jumps (allegro), develop arm movements (port de bras) and explore artistry and musicality. Students can choose to prepare for the Annual IDTA Ballet Exam. Examined by Registered IDTA Ballet teachers.

 

Grade 4  - These Ballet Classes are designed to improve technique, develop ballet vocabulary and increase confidence. Building on the basics, classes introduce preparation for turns (pirouettes), jumps (allegro), develop arm movements (port de bras) and explore artistry and musicality. Students can choose to prepare for the Annual IDTA Ballet Exam. Examined by Registered IDTA Ballet teachers.

 

Intermediate Ballet - A technically challenging Ballet class that will require strength and stamina for more complex adage, pirouette and allegro enchaînements. A great way to improve fitness and finesse! Students may prepare for the Intermediate Professional Performers Exam. An internationally recognized Ballet Qualification.
